Things I learned in the Multiverse last night

-MOOPatar is an abandoned avatar just standing there taking up space. Maybe they went to get a beer and didn’t make it back.

- Sparkleverse — the nastier the wormhole, the better.

- Evidently the pink objects are just things not yet ported to the Mac platform?

- You spend a lot of time doing tech support for your friends when they arrive on playa

- When you’re wandering around alone you’ll eventually hear the ambient noise repeat. “Anybody have a flower in their hand?”

- Teal shirts haven’t spent a lot of time preparing for Burning Man

- If this is a thing next year, instead of spending 1000$ on shit to take to the playa, we’ll be spending $1000 on computer upgrades, audio equipment and VR goggles

- There is no internet at Burning Man really. This year there would be no Burning Man without the internet.

  • It’s really cool to wander around with your friends, talk with them and check out art and parties in Black Rock City.

I tried BRCvr twice, once with goggles and once on my Mac. In both instances, the motion of moving around gave me vertigo and nausea that lasted for quite some time. Am I just a born Luddite? It seemed interesting enough…

Silvia Stephenson
Jennifer Raiser apparently you have to build up a tolerance to it.

Jennifer Raiser
Silvia Stephenson when VR becomes as engaging and meaningful as RR (real reality) I might try. I appreciate people’s effort to create this world but I couldn’t relate to it in a meaningful way.

Josh Keppel
Dramamine was the BM 2020 drug of choice. Seriously.

Glenda Solis
I was turned off by the endless instructions….on a mac…….but I loved all the screen shots people posted……

Maria Loli Partridge
Not a fan… I really tried — spent a lot of time — and was frustrated and did not feel engaged…rather empty. Happy that others had fun.. not my thing…

Molly Vikart
I found it all to be cold, flat, and lonely.

John Mosbaugh
Molly Vikart it could be like that for sure. I’m 2D so it’s a different experience evidently. It’s much more fun with friends. I did run into people I see on the playa which was very cool.

Silvia Stephenson
Molly Vikart I ran into Rebecca Throne and Lulu and we had a good time with much shenanigans until I got queasy and had to take a nap. — That Lulu throwing a pirate skeleton over the edge. 🤣

Silvia Stephenson
Nimbus and her big cop hat.

Molly Vikart
Lulu and I spent about an hour trying to find each other… standing in the same place, we could never see each other. Kinda broke my heart.

John Mosbaugh
Molly Vikart I learned you can search for their name, then once they accept your as friend you can go to. IT would be a nice feature in RL BM 🙂

Molly Vikart
John Mosbaugh I searched on ‘Lulu’ and kept getting a hit on someone called Elaina… never the right one.

Molly Vikart
Sorry, I’ll stop now. Feeling morose.

Sylvia Wood
It’s just so I Want My MTV.

Maria Loli Partridge
Molly Vikart — I’m with you — I get that it’s another “BM world” and many can experience — but i don’t care. I want to be there — see and feel and smell my community …. and I don’t want to be on a computer — if VR is the only way to experience BRC — … See more

Sharma Hendel
I wish I had found you, Molly…would love to have strolled through the digital dust with ya. ❤

Adriana Roberts
Writing these down for next year’s BRC Weekly.

Maria Loli Partridge
Loved this years missive!

Adriana Roberts
Also, +1 to “flower in your hand.” Next year, longer ambient background loops! Also, in 2022, it’s going to be very frustrating to NOT be able to just teleport across the playa to your friends! (Or “F-key bounce”)

Silvia Stephenson
Adriana A Roberts “F-key Bounce” is an amazing Playa name…
